Police expand probe into Viegård Stud Farm
Following a TV2 documentary ‘Nightmare at the Stud Farm’, Danish police have expanded their investigation into the former Viegård Stutteri, where owner John Byrialsen is accused by 73 former employees and students of harassment, violence, and rape. Prior to the documentary’s release, police were already probing allegations featured in the program. Inspector Claus Nørgaard indicated the documentary’s revelations necessitate a broader investigation. Byrialsen denies the allegations of violence, rape, or any sexual contact with ‘the young girls’. Earlier on Wednesday, three women filed police reports accusing Byrialsen of assault and rape. Previously, in August 2023, authorities discovered about 50 buried horses at Viegård Stutteri, which was done without required permission. Roughly 390 horses were also found on the property, some subjected to inhumane treatment. The farm and Byrialsen went bankrupt in October 2023.
