Former Minister Tommy Ahlers becomes new metro chairman

Entrepreneur and former minister Tommy Ahlers is the new chairman of Metroselskabet. He was appointed by Transport Minister Thomas Danielsen in agreement with the co-owners, Copenhagen and Frederiksberg Municipalities. Ahlers replaces Jørn Neergaard Larsen, who has been in the position since 2017. Ahlers is focused on climate issues and is enthusiastic about infrastructure and urban development. He was a well-known investor on the Danish TV show “Løvens Hule” and served as Minister of Education and Research in the VLAK government from 2018. Ahlers left politics in 2021, citing a lack of focus on visions and good ideas. Metroselskabet is responsible for metro operations in the capital, including the upcoming M5 line, expected to be completed in the mid-2030s, with full completion by 2045.
