Settled: Artist and museum agree on artwork

Artist Jens Haaning and the Kunsten Museum of Modern Art in Aalborg have settled their dispute over the artwork ‘Take the Money and Run’. The conflict, which was set for a court hearing in the High Court, ended after the museum agreed to purchase the artwork with support from the Obel Family Foundation. This solution was detailed in a press release by the museum. In 2021, Haaning had sent two empty frames to the museum, meant to contain about DKK 500,000 of the museum’s money, but the cash was missing. The City Court of Copenhagen ruled in September that Haaning had to return nearly half a million kroner to the museum, a decision he had appealed. Thanks to the settlement, the artwork will now be part of the museum’s collection and accessible to the public. The museum has not disclosed the purchase price for ‘Take the Money and Run’.
