Warning on fake SMS scams in Denmark

The National Social Appeals Board (Ankestyrelsen) warns of fake SMS messages claiming to be from the agency about ‘missing data processing declarations.’ The board advises citizens not to click on suspicious links and refers them to sikkerdigital.dk for tools to ensure digital safety. Incidents of SMS and call scams have risen, with 35,000 police reports of cybercrime last year, a 30% increase. To combat the issue, the government authorized telecoms to use an SMS firewall to detect fraudulent messages using algorithms and artificial intelligence. The new system is expected to become operational in one to two months.
