Ministry unaware of frigate grenade issue
Denmark’s Defense Minister, Troels Lund Poulsen, is set to discuss new insights into the ‘Iver Huitfeldt’ frigate incident, where the vessel faced system failure and faulty ammunition during a Red Sea attack on March 9. The final report revealed that the Defense Ministry wasn’t thoroughly briefed on grenade problems at a March 18 meeting, despite prior claims. The Defense Command acknowledged this lapse. Furthermore, discussions about radar failures on March 15 were undocumented. Public and ministerial awareness arose only after media reports on April 2. Discrepancies between the Defense Command and Ministry narratives persist, highlighted at an April 3 press briefing when Poulsen divulged receiving fresh details on the case. Additionally, the report mentioned that the now-suspended Defense Chief Flemming Lentfer briefed leaders on March 13 about shooting down drones without mentioning the underlying challenges.
