New stream path to prevent pollution

Randers Municipality is close to completing the creation of a new course for Alling Å River by Nordic Waste, according to TV 2 Østjylland. In December last year, after landslides threatened the river with pollution, a rerouting was carried out. The river has been re-established on the opposite side of the road, and it is anticipated to reopen in early October. The process has been quicker and less expensive than expected, says Municipal Director Jesper Kaas Schmidt. He had initially feared more expensive and worse scenarios, such as rerouting the river to the west, which would have cost hundreds of millions of kroner. While satisfied with the outcome, he plans to maintain the pipes and barriers installed until he is confident the measures will withstand the winter. A contingency plan is also being prepared in case of future landslides.
