Insurance sees fewer weather claims in summer

Despite heavy rainfall, insurance companies in Denmark have registered fewer weather-related damages this summer compared to last year. GF Forsikring noted 583 claims in June and July, a decrease from 645 in the same period the previous year. Their damage prevention measures, such as issuing weather warnings and advising on protection against rainfall, are credited for the reduction. Topdanmark also reported fewer claims, attributing the decrease to heightened customer awareness and preventative actions like securing outdoor items and clearing gutters. Both insurers remarked on a growing interest in insurance coverage for extreme weather events. The number of damages also depends on whether heavy rainfalls hit urban or rural areas, with more claims typically seen in denser settlements.
