US launches defensive strikes in Yemen
On Sunday, the United States executed attacks in areas of Yemen controlled by the Houthi rebel group, as announced by the Central Command on social media. The strikes, which occurred around 5:30 AM and 10:30 AM, targeted a land-attack cruise missile and four sea-attack cruise missiles respectively, all ready to fire at ships in the Red Sea. The US deemed these undetonated missiles a threat to US Navy and commercial vessels, justifying the strikes as defensive to ensure maritime safety. The exact location and potential damages or casualties were not disclosed. Earlier on Sunday, a similar operation targeting a sea-attack cruise missile had also been reported by Central Command as a defensive measure. The Houthi movement has not yet commented on these newest attacks by the US.
