Nordic leaders discuss security at casual dinner

Denmark’s Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen hosted an informal dinner at home, engaging with Nordic counterparts on regional security matters, maritime security in the Baltic Sea, and support for Ukraine. The gathering came as the U.S. President Donald Trump has repeatedly shown interest in acquiring Greenland, with the dinner seen as part of Denmark’s efforts to secure backing. This reinforces the value of tight alliances, especially amid a more unpredictable global context. In addition to discussing the current world situation leaving many feeling uneasy, Mette Frederiksen emphasized Denmark’s commitment to shaping a stronger continent militarily, economically, and technologically, sharing this grave concern with her Nordic colleagues.
