Parliament leaders to review the Fonseca case
The case regarding the Moderates’ financial offer to Mike Fonseca will be addressed in Folketingetss Presidium and Business Order Committee. Søren Gade, Folketingets Speaker, confirmed this without further comment pending discussions. The issue arose after reports that Lars Løkke Rasmussen attended a 2023 meeting where Fonseca was offered a six months “salary” to give his mandate to the Moderates. Critics argue this attempt, confirmed by a recording, questions Løkke’s fitness as a minister. The offer was made after Fonseca breached the Moderates’ internal code by being in a relationship with a 15-year-old. Fonseca refused this 370,000 kroner offer, including additional assistance, and he remains an independent member. The meeting details surfaced via a book about Fonseca by Mads Brügger.
