Lego and Ecco granted export permits for russian subsidiaries

Danish companies including Ecco and Lego have received permission to continue exporting services such as IT support and legal advice to their subsidiaries in Russia, reports DetailWatch.
This is granted despite the EU’s 14th sanctions package, initially prohibiting the delivery of various services following the invasion of Ukraine. Lego ceased exporting bricks to Russia in early 2022 and later ended all commercial activity, but maintains a small Moscow office for market oversight and protection of its global brand and IP rights. Ecco confirmed it also obtained approval to deliver selected services, emphasizing compliance with all sanctions and the importance of retaining staff. DetailWatch reports that over 15 Danish firms have similar permissions, while others like Carlsberg and Grundfos faced challenges in withdrawing from Russia.
