Below average grain harvest again

Farmers in Denmark have harvested less grain than usual, with major agricultural wholesalers estimating the harvest at around 7.5 million tons, 1.8 million tons below the average of 9.3 million tons, reports Jyllands-Posten. Unpredictable weather, including excessive rainfall last autumn and a drought followed by more rain during the spring and summer, has been challenging for crop yields. Mogens Frederiksen from DLG noted the increasing impact of climate on harvest variations. The reduced harvest coincides with higher farming expenses, as farmers invested in special equipment like belts for tractors and combine harvesters to navigate wet fields. The shortfall of 1.8 million tons of grain represents a revenue loss of 2.7 billion DKK.
