Slight decline in resilient unemployment in June
In Denmark, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate decreased slightly in June by 368 individuals, settling at 86,075, maintaining a consistent rate of 2.9% for the past eight months. Unemployment benefits claimants numbered 74,024, while 12,051 individuals were on welfare support. The stable job market sees ample chances for job seekers to find new employment quickly, with continued reports of significant labor shortages from businesses. Allan Sørensen, Chief Economist at Confederation of Danish Industry, and Kristian Skriver, Senior Economist at Danish Chamber of Commerce, anticipate the job upswing to sustain the current unemployment level through the year-end. Employment gains have been widespread across 17 of 19 sectors, notably in the industrial sector, including pharma, transport, and trade. A factor contributing to employment growth, despite steady unemployment rates, includes the influx of foreign workers and the inclination of older individuals to stay employed beyond retirement age.
