New king pledges to battle climate change
King Frederik received a standing ovation at the Warsaw historical museum during his first official statement since the throne change, where he emphasized that combating climate change will be a focus of his reign. Addressing the attendees at the inauguration of Poland’s green business initiative, the King cited the war in Ukraine and Middle East conflict as reasons to prioritize green transition. Accompanied by ministers including the foreign minister and others, he discussed promoting Danish green solutions in Poland. Danish businesses are eyeing the Polish market, aiming to contribute to Poland’s shift from coal-based energy, as 91% of its energy comes from fossil fuels. Denmark’s export to Poland surpassed 50 billion kroner in 2022, making Poland Denmark’s 9th largest export market, with expectations for growth.
