Mette F. celebrates in Kyiv amid war milestone

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen arrived in Kyiv on her 47th birthday to mark 1,000 days of Ukraine’s conflict with Russia. She started her journey with cake, transitioned to a solemn wreath-laying at a war-torn memorial near Budja, and honored a young female medic who was killed in 2022. The Danish leader, on her fifth visit to Ukraine, received thanks for Denmark’s significant support in weapons and economy. Amidst Ukraine’s largest attack since August, which crippled infrastructure critical for heating and water, Frederiksen stressed the unknown sufficiency of European aid and highlighted the fight against Russia’s expansionist dreams that disregard human lives and democratic norms.
