Employment hits record high in Denmark
In December, the number of wage earners in Denmark increased by 4,600, bringing the total to a record high of 3,040,100 employed individuals. Over the course of 2024, employment rose by 34,400 individuals, marking a 1.1 percent increase. Chief economist Jeppe Juul Borre from Arbejdernes Landsbank noted the remarkable performance of the Danish labor market and forecasted further employment records. The growth in December was mainly registered in private companies, while the public administration and service sectors saw a slight decrease by 100. Unemployment continued to decline, with a decrease of 1,200 full-time unemployed from December to January. Despite a strong economic start, concerns about a potential trade war with the USA in 2025, which could affect hiring and investments, cast some uncertainty about future employment progress.
