Hundreds of thousands in Denmark to receive tax reminders

Hundreds of thousands of Danes will soon receive small demand notices from the Danish Tax Agency. About 300,000 reminders are set to be sent, impacting amounts often less than five kroner and even under one krone. According to the Tax Agency, 35% of the charges are under one krone, while 30% range between one and five kroner. These claims result from late vehicle tax payments, totaling DKK 3.6 million. Rikke Busk Ginnerup, acting director at the Tax Agency, expresses understanding for the surprise at such small amounts but insists every owed amount must be collected. Multiple reminders may be received by citizens because of accumulated interest on multiple late payments. Meanwhile, efforts are being made to reduce such small notices, with the Tax Ministry planning to introduce a DKK 50 minimum threshold for some demands and to transfer small balances to subsequent bills instead of issuing separate demands.
