Telecom sector to unveil fix post-TDC outage
Following a major TDC network outage which disrupted the ability to make emergency calls, the Danish telecom industry acknowledges the need for a new security solution. Jakob Willer, director of Teleindustrien, stated that finding a solution is a top priority, especially to ensure connectivity for emergency calls to 112. During the outage, phones did not switch to alternative networks due to being connected but unable to call, leading emergency services to deploy personnel to reach those unable to dial 112. The telecoms collectively committed to addressing the failed safety mechanism. Emergency services minister Torsten Schack Pedersen has commenced an evaluation of the incident. The disruption coincided with Banedanmark’s signal system failure in Jylland, further complicating transportation services.
