DR show reported for Greenland segment

Copenhagen Police have received several complaints following a segment on DR’s satirical program ‘Tæt på sandheden’. Complainants allege the program contained racist statements against Greenlanders and Inuit people, potentially breaching Denmark’s ‘racism paragraph’. DR insists the segment was satire based on their conduct in recent weeks, specifically their documentary ‘Grønlands hvide guld’, and not intended to mock Greenland or its people. Greenlandic MP Aaja Chemnitz from IA criticized DR’s timing during Greenland’s election campaign, labelling it insensitive. Culture Minister Jakob Engel-Schmidt defended satire’s place but refrained from judging the content. A 29-year-old man’s recent conviction for racist jokes has highlighted the legal boundaries of satire, while a legal professor believes the DR sketch is unlikely to contravene the racism law.
