State Employees Secure 8.8% Pay Rise

An 8.8% wage increase over two years for Danish state employees has been agreed upon, with Finance Minister Nicolai Wammen emphasizing a real wage increase of approximately 3.5%. Initial raises start at 6% from April 1, 2023, and will be followed by a 2.6% increase next year. The agreement also ensures an option for an extra wage negotiation in late 2025 if needed, along with improved paternity leave and the accumulation of compensatory and special leave days. An additional DKK 50 million is directed towards employees in key sectors like the police, responding to criticisms of exclusion from prior wage promises. The deal requires approval through organizational votes to be effective from April 1.
