Court upholds sentence for poultry farmers
The High Court of Western Denmark confirmed the animal cruelty convictions of poultry farmers Per and Ole Jensen Vorre, reducing their jail sentences from six to four months. Additionally, they are banned from keeping poultry and gamefowl for five years, a change from the indefinite animal ban enforced by the lower court. The brothers were convicted of using live decoys and force-feeding over 1000 pheasants to prevent them from picking feathers. Some charges were dropped because one property did not fall under the relevant regulation. The corporate entities owned by the brothers were also fined, with Ole Jensen Vorre’s company Rørbækvej 13 receiving an increased fine from 75,000 to 100,000 DKK, whereas Per Jensen Vorre’s Toftegården Løvel was fined 50,000 DKK.
