King Frederik opens secret AI supercomputer
On Wednesday, King Frederik inaugurated one of the world’s most powerful supercomputers and a new center for artificial intelligence in Denmark. Named ‘Gefion’, the supercomputer will be used in drug development, disease diagnostics, and finding efficient solutions for environmental sustainability. The exact location remains secret. The initiative is a partnership between Novo Nordisk Foundation, Denmark’s Export and Investment Fund (EIFO), and US chip giant Nvidia. Danish researchers and companies will have access to the computer, which is capable of processing vast amounts of data at once and will run on 100% renewable energy. The Novo Nordisk Foundation has committed approximately 600 million DKK to the center, with EIFO contributing about 100 million DKK.
