Denmark’s green flight path faces uncertainty

The Danish government has announced a green flight route for the next year but faces uncertainty regarding its implementation. The Danish Transport Authority, in a July response, highlighted that it is currently not permitted to fly on 100% green fuel, with a maximum of 50% green fuel blend allowed. Even less than six months before the deadline, it is unclear when the international aviation organization ASTM will have revised regulations ready. The government had conceded that its green aviation proposal for 2023 wasn’t feasible under current regulations. Minister Thomas Danielsen acknowledges challenges in both certifying and producing green aviation fuels, while emphasizing the importance of pushing the market with the ambition of a clean green domestic route by 2025.
