Prescription Requirement for Children’s Paracetamol Lifted
The Danish Medicines Agency has announced that the temporary prescription requirement for paracetamol suppositories for children has been lifted. This decision comes after the medication is back in stock, with 42,500 packages supplied from a Norwegian provider. Mette Veje from the Medicines Agency emphasizes that the readily available medication will make it easier for parents of sick children in need of fever-reducing and analgesic medication. She cautions not to stockpile the medication. It may take a few days for the suppositories to reach pharmacies, and only pharmacies – not supermarkets or kiosks – will be authorized to sell them due to the still unusual supply situation. A daily maximum of two packages per customer remains in place, in line with other over-the-counter pain relievers.
