Slight increase in patient satisfaction at hospitals
Patient satisfaction in Danish regional hospitals has slightly risen in 2023 compared to the previous year, according to data from the National Survey of Patient Experiences (LUP) involving 432,636 responses. The survey measures satisfaction across different health areas, with 88% of somatic patients expressing high levels of satisfaction, a 1% increase from 2022. Karin Friis Bach, chair of the Danish Regions’ health committee, attributes this to the holistic approach towards patients, emphasizing empathy and understanding beyond diagnoses. Patient satisfaction in emergency departments also rose to 76%, up by 4% from the previous year. Efforts to optimize hospital ‘flow,’ reduce unnecessary hospital stays, and streamline processes have been noted as contributing factors. Despite the increasing pressure from a 10% rise in hospital patients over the past decade, the health committee chair commends the hospital staff for maintaining empathy and accommodating attitudes under challenging conditions.
