Deal for 650,000 public workers may land Wednesday
Final negotiations for a new collective agreement involving about 650,000 municipal and regional employees started Tuesday, expected to be presented at the earliest on Wednesday, per Michael Ziegler, head of the salary and personnel committee in the Local Government Denmark (KL). He has expressed optimism despite previous concerns, noting a constructive atmosphere. Separate negotiations for approximately 55,000 Academics (Akademikerne) in municipalities and 38,000 in regions will begin later. The recent state sector agreement, affecting 190,000 employees with an 8.8% pay frame increase over two years, is likely to influence these discussions, although municipal and regional needs differ, covering services like daycare, schools, and elder care.
