Lars von Trier prepares new film since diagnosis
Danish director and screenwriter Lars von Trier is working on a new film titled ‘After’. This information comes from the Danish Film Institute’s overview of granted funding, as reported by cultural media outlet Soundvenue and Berlingske. Von Trier is both the screenwriter and director of the film, which is being produced by Zentropa Entertainment with 1.3 million in development support for 2024. It’s the 68-year-old director’s first feature film since ‘The House that Jack Built’ in 2018. After his Parkinson’s disease diagnosis was revealed in 2022, there was uncertainty about his continued work. Despite the illness, limited interviews are planned, and his work on completing the ‘Riget Exodus’ series continued as planned. The contents and release date of the new film, as well as details on the cast, remain unknown.
