Party rejects ban on milk and meat at meetings
The political party Alternativet has voted against a proposal to exclusively purchase plant-based food for party events. Simon Nyborg Jensen, a former member of the Veganerpartiet which merged with Alternativet, pushed for the proposal as part of a cultural clash within the party. He expressed his struggle with attending events where animal products are served, associating them with animal cruelty. Jensen, also a parliamentary candidate, nearly avoids events serving items like meat or milk. About half of the party’s events reportedly offer vegan options. A previous incident was cited where an Alternativet employee was harshly criticized for buying cow’s milk, causing a stir among volunteers at the Folkemødet festival.
