Today’s news / Film industry urges DR to reshow documentary
The criticized DR documentary "Greenland's White Gold" was withdrawn on Wednesday, and editor-in-chief for DR News Thomas Falbe was fired. Film industry urges DR to reshow documentary

Faroese and Greenlandic filmmaker associations FILM.GL and Føroysk Filmsfólk criticize DR for unpublishing the documentary ‘Greenland’s White Gold,’ seeing it as a drastic overreaction akin to censorship. They call for the documentary to be rebroadcast, possibly with a disclaimer. The filmmakers stress that the film contains no false information and uncertainty about the figures mentioned was acknowledged. They find it worrying that one disputed graph and subsequent political criticism led to the dismissal of DR news editor Thomas Falbe and the film’s removal. The Danish Directors’ Association supports them, advocating for a re-examination of how the film can be made available with appropriate context and disclaimers. The documentary was removed after DR’s news director, Sandy French, learned of new information about the creation, due to a graph that was removed from the documentary before its release.
