Denmark’s autumn allure for foreign tourists
Tourist accommodations in Denmark experienced a 5% increase in October 2024 compared to 2023, with numbers showing a growth since 2015 of 42% overall, 31% for Danish, and an impressive 50% for foreign visitors. The country hosted 59.3 million visitors in the first ten months, marking a 2% increase from the same period in 2023. The Minister of Urban Affairs and Rural Districts, Morten Dahlin, expressed satisfaction with these strong results, attributing them to Denmark’s attractive offerings. The biggest growth was in hotel stays, with a 11% increase in foreign tourists, despite a 1% decline in Danish hotel stays. The overall trend shows a decrease in Danish tourist overnight stays by 1%, with specific declines observed in hostel stays; however, stays at holiday centers have increased by 1%. Lars Bertolt Winther from the Danish Industry Federation describes October as a significantly successful month, while also emphasizing the need to encourage more Danes to vacation domestically.
