Danish firm to produce eco-friendly jet fuel

Danish energy company European Energy is set to start the production of sustainable aviation fuel in Denmark, having signed an agreement with Swiss company Metafuels to build a facility in Padborg, near the Danish-German border. Adjacent to this site, a Power-to-X plant is also planned. The production capacity is anticipated to be 12,000 liters of aviation fuel per day. Emil Vikjær-Andresen, head of Power-to-X at European Energy, highlights the role of renewable energy in reducing the carbon footprint from aviation fuels as a critical part of the green transition. European Energy already partly owns a large solar park at Kassø that provides solar energy for methanol production. Methanol can be sustainably produced using biogas and green energy instead of traditional fossil natural gas.
