Danish Titanic passenger’s watch for auction

A pocket watch belonging to Danish Titanic passenger Hans Christensen Givard is set to be auctioned by Henry Aldridge and Son on April 26th, with an estimated price of 260,000 to 435,000 Danish kroner. Givard was one of the 1,500 victims of the infamous sinking of the Titanic on the night of April 14-15, 1912. His watch, found on his recovered body along with keys, cash, a compass, and a silver watch, was previously displayed in a 2012 exhibition in Copenhagen’s Tivoli about the Titanic disaster. The items were returned to Denmark to Givard’s family, whose descendants are now selling the pocket watch, according to the auction house.
