Norwegian’s profit drops despite revenue growth

In the second quarter, Norwegian Air’s revenue grew by 36 percent to 9.3 billion Norwegian kroner compared to the same period last year. However, the profit decreased by 11 percent to 477 million kroner. CEO Geir Karlsen highlighted the company’s solid operational performance and its recognition in May as Europe’s most punctual airline. Passenger numbers rose by 800,000 to 7.3 million, reflecting increased capacity. Despite this, the cabin factor, or load factor, decreased by two percentage points. Norwegian, including Norwegian Air and the recently acquired Widerøe, faces challenges due to Boeing’s delivery delays, potentially affecting network expansion. Nevertheless, the group plans a 12 percent increase in production this year and expects to operate over 90 aircraft next summer.
