Denmark invests in Ukrainian arms industry

Denmark took a next step in financing aid to Ukraine by signing an intent to invest 200 million DKK in Ukraine’s defense industry. This will fund local production of items such as drones, missiles, and artillery. The goal is for Ukraine to produce its own military equipment, ensuring faster delivery and easier maintenance. Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen expressed hope that Denmark’s initiative, a first in Europe, would encourage other countries to invest similarly and suggested Denmark might increase its investment if successful. Issues of potential corruption in Ukraine were acknowledged, emphasizing the need to track the investments carefully. The Conservative People’s Party leader Mona Juul and defense spokesman Christian Friis Bach joined the Danish ministers during their Ukraine visit.
