Danish teen in serious ski accident in Austria
A 16-year-old Danish boy has been involved in a serious skiing accident in Austria, as reported by Ekstra Bladet from a Tyrolean police press release. The incident occurred on a blue slope in the Nauders area on Monday afternoon when the Danish teen collided with a 64-year-old German snowboarder. Blue slopes are rated as intermediate, above the easier green slopes. The German snowboarder did not survive despite resuscitation attempts by a witness, and an autopsy has been ordered. The Danish boy was airlifted to the Zams hospital with injuries of unspecified severity. The rescue operation involved multiple entities, including two rescue helicopters, Nauders’ piste rescue service, alpine police, and the local police. The exact circumstances leading up to the accident are still unknown. Contact with Tyrolean police has yet to yield further information on the boy’s condition.
