Danish Crown cuts 500 jobs amid crisis

Danish Crown, a meat-processing company, is facing a crisis due to a lack of pigs to slaughter and high costs, resulting in the loss of 500 administrative jobs among their 2,200 staff. The new CEO, Niels Duedahl, announced measures to streamline operations and reduce expenses by 500 million kroner, focusing on core business to improve payouts to the farmer owners. Danish Crown previously declared the closure of the Ringsted slaughterhouse with 1,200 employees, shifting attention to product refinement. A significant supplier has chosen to divert pigs to a competitor, affecting Danish Crown’s volume. Despite current challenges, Duedahl sees untapped potential and believes in future positive outcomes. Specific positions for termination have not been disclosed, as negotiations with union representatives are pending. Job cuts will be finalized by the end of October.
