Prostate cancer care delays worry officials
In recent months, less than half of the cancer treatment courses for cervical and prostate cancer have been completed on time, according to Danish Health Authority quarterly report covering the last quarter of 2023. Overall, eight out of ten cancer treatment package courses met the standard timeline from doctor referral to the start of possible treatment. Minister of the Interior and Health, Sophie Løhde emphasizes the importance of adhering to the recommended timelines for these packages, as time is critical for cancer patients’ survival. A new cancer plan with 600 million kroner allocated annually from 2025 is in the works. Region Nordjylland excels at timely completion with 85% on schedule, while Region Sjælland lags at 69%.
