77-year-old man sentenced for 31 illegal weapons

A 77-year-old man from the island of Bornholm was Wednesday sentenced to two years and three months in prison for illegal possession of 31 weapons, several magazines and 1208 different types of ammunition, TV 2 Bornholm reported. Two years of the total sentence are suspended, while three months are unconditional. According to the media, the man had stored two semi-automatic rifles, a home-built pistol and a pistol made of a bent iron pipe. Weapons and ammunition were found stocked the man’s property when police found them. According to TV 2 Bornholm, the man has denied the accusations that the weapons cache was illegally and recklessly stored. In court, he also explained that he has extensive knowledge of weapons during his time as a hunter, soldier, weapons master and owner of a shooting range. /ritzau/
