Denmark to become AI leader by summer
Denmark is accelerating the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in the public sector through three large-scale projects, as stated by Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen in a recorded speech at the Municipalities’ National Association summit. These projects will position Denmark as a world leader in the application of AI in the public sector. Frederiksen emphasizes the involvement of local companies, researchers, and public employees in developing these projects and aims to reimagine public sector workflows. She cites AI’s potential to streamline administration, case management, and scheduling to focus more on human relations. Examples of AI’s impact include reduced travel time for home care in Lemvig and more breast cancer detections in Copenhagen. These initiatives are part of the government’s strategy declared in December 2024 to enhance welfare and competitiveness in a global economy.
