Today’s news / Dan Jørgensen approved after EU hearing
Despite critical questions about nuclear power and high prices of energy and housing, Dan Jørgensen managed to smile during Tuesday's hearing in the EU Parliament. The smile presumably got even bigger, after it was clear on Tuesday evening that Dan Jørgensen passed the hearing, which is the major exam for candidates for positions in the EU Commission. Dan Jørgensen approved after EU hearing

Dan Jørgensen has been cleared with a two-thirds majority following a hearing in the European Parliament, confirmed Kira Marie Peter-Hansen, a member of SF in EU Parliament. She supports him for listening to the Greens’ demands regarding concrete goals on green energy and no EU tax money for nuclear power. However, Jørgensen cannot yet be assured of the Energy and Housing Commissioner role as the EU Commission is not fully approved. His approval after the three-hour hearing is a significant step forward. Jørgensen expressed relief post-hearing, having prepared by meeting with EU Parliament members and studying extensively. Hearings for EU Commission candidates continue, with approval unlikely to be withheld due to global issues such as the US election, and conflict in Ukraine and the Middle East calling for swift decisions. A final vote on the EU Commission is expected by the end of November at a meeting in Strasbourg.
