French air traffic strike cancels flights

Six departures from Copenhagen Airport to French airports were canceled on Thursday due to a one-day strike announced by French air traffic controllers. The cancellations affected flights to Paris, Nice, and Marseille. Passengers affected by the cancellations were advised to contact their airline. The strike was called for by SNCTA, France’s largest air traffic controllers’ union, due to failed salary negotiations. Despite the strike notice being withdrawn by SNCTA following an agreement on pay raises, disruptions are still expected in air traffic. The strikes would have led to the cancellation of 75% and 65% of flights at Paris-Orly and Charles de Gaulle airports, respectively. It remains unclear if the smaller unions supporting the strike will also call it off. Airlines for Europe (A4E) expressed dissatisfaction due to the significant disruptions expected in the air traffic across France and parts of Europe.
