Danish Defense Minister thanks troops in Latvia
On Monday, Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen visited Camp Valdemar in Latvia, where approximately 800 Danish soldiers have been stationed since August as part of NATO’s presence. During his visit, Poulsen expressed his gratitude to the deployed service members, including his predecessor Jakob Ellemann-Jensen, who is participating in a military exercise as part of the reserve for ten days. Ellemann-Jensen, who was once deployed to Bosnia-Herzegovina about 25 years ago, is now serving as a reserve officer in Latvia. Poulsen highlighted the significance of the Danish mission for the Latvian community and its proximity to Russia, just 200 kilometers away, stating its importance to Latvian society. The Danish battalion plans to remain in Latvia for 2025 and 2026.
