Russia bans Danish dailies Berlingske and Information
On Tuesday, Russia prohibited the Danish newspapers Berlingske and Dagbladet Information, as announced by the Russian Foreign Ministry’s website. The ban is in response to the EU’s suspension of three Russian media outlets accused of supporting Russia’s war in Ukraine. While the exact reasons for targeting Berlingske and Information were not detailed, the Russian ministry cited an intention to target European media that spread false information about Russia’s ‘special military operation.’ Measures will be enacted to limit the two media’s broadcast capabilities in Russia, and Russia may reconsider the ban if the EU lifts its suspension on the Russian outlets.
