EU nations support Denmark in Greenland dispute with Trump
Danish prime Minister Mette Frederiksen received backing from major European countries for respecting territorial integrity and national sovereignty amid a dispute with U.S. president Donald Trump over Greenland. During visits to Germany’s chancellor Olaf Scholz and France’s president Emmanuel Macron, the issue, although not initially on the agenda, was discussed. Frederiksen has engaged in swift diplomacy, rallying Nordic and European support for Denmark. She emphasizes the clear message from Nordic to European allies, and friends outside Europe, supporting sovereignty. Frederiksen is also set to meet with NATO secretary-general Mark Rutte to likely seek a discreet role in mediating the conflict between Denmark and the U.S.
