Siemens contemplates cutting 550 jobs in Denmark
According to Bloomberg News, wind turbine manufacturer Siemens Gamesa is devising a cost-saving plan that may affect its Danish employees. Insider sources reveal ongoing negotiations with unions regarding the scale of dismissals. Up to 550 of the more than 5,000 employees based in cities like Brande, Herning, Vejle, and Aalborg are at risk of being laid off. The company faces not only a market slowdown due to higher interest rates that increase the cost of investing in green energy but also issues with some of its latest onshore wind turbines that have impeded sales and construction. The latest quarterly report shows Siemens Gamesa suffered a loss of 448 million euros.
