Copenhagen to restrict scaffolding ads
Copenhagen’s Technical and Environmental Mayor, Line Barfod, aims to tighten regulations on scaffolding advertisements, describing the current situation as the ‘wild west’. Last year’s rule changes were insufficient, as unauthorized large banners continue to proliferate. The new rules would ban such ads in culturally historic areas like Slotsholmen and Nyhavn, and introduce a fee of approximately six Danish kroner per square meter for ad placement. This revenue will enhance supervision efforts. Currently, ads can cover 40% of scaffolds with photostats displaying the building beneath making up the remaining 60%. The proposed rules will set maximum ad sizes and will be discussed by the Technical and Environmental Committee on May 27.
