Teen sentenced in Denmark for murder plot

A 16-year-old from Sweden has been sentenced by the Copenhagen City Court to five and a half years in prison for an attempted murder plot. He was arrested in Copenhagen in April, initially intending to carry out a hired hit facilitated through encrypted messaging on Signal and Telegram. He anticipated to receive between 100,000 and 300,000 kroner, along with firearms and an e-bike. Despite his claims of renouncing the plan before arrest, the court found him guilty, based on evidence of his intent and preparedness to execute the task. This case represents a trend of ‘crime as a service’, with around 20 incidents involving young Swedes in Copenhagen since April. The boy, who also claimed ‘I am not a murderer’ in court, was ultimately expelled from Denmark permanently.
