Denmark enhances border control with Sweden

Justice Minister Peter Hummelgaard announces tightened control at the Danish-Swedish border, with Danish police increasing their presence on trains from Sweden and devoting more resources to monitoring ANPG cameras for scanning vehicle plates. The measure follows incidents involving young Swedes detained for crimes in Denmark, some linked to criminal disputes and connections to Sweden. Hummelgaard stresses that any form of recruitment by criminal groups will not be tolerated and that tough measures will be enforced to prevent planned attacks and enhance citizen safety. Though it might lead to more police on trains and potential checks, no severe disruptions for commuters are expected. The focus will also be on prosecuting those involving Swedes in Danish conflicts. Despite increased controls, the minister indicates no immediate plans for full border checks, as police do not see it as a beneficial tool.
