Denmark to Invest in Ukrainian Arms
The Danish government is dedicating an additional 2.2 billion DKK to Ukraine in the 17th donation package, according to a press release from the Ministry of Defense. This brings the total military support to approximately 41.4 billion DKK from 2022 to 2028, funded by the Ukraine fund. The package includes money for drones and missile component production with the Netherlands and Czech Republic. A new initiative is to invest 200 million DKK in the Ukrainian defense industry, expecting to make a decisive difference. Maintenance and servicing of the produced equipment in Ukraine will be easier, explains Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen. Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen highlights that the investment is a direct purchase from the Ukrainian defense industry, a request from Ukraine itself. Transparency is emphasized to avoid corruption. The package also features substantial maritime capabilities, details of which are undisclosed due to operational reasons.
