DF party excluded from EU top political seats

Europe’s Patriots, the third-largest group in the EU Parliament, was not granted any of the fourteen vice-presidential positions, despite their size. Danish People’s Party member, Anders Vistisen, sees this as a disrespect to the democratic process and to the millions of right-wing voters. Positions are awarded through direct voting, requiring an absolute majority, which none from the Europe’s Patriots secured. Vistisen criticizes that the right-wing has been purposefully denied influence within the EU Parliament. Every other political group except for The Sovereign Nations of Europe received at least one vice-presidential seat, with the Social Democrats (S&D) gaining five seats. Danish S&D member Christel Schaldemose refutes criticisms, arguing the direct election method is extremely democratic and considers traditions from all 27 member states. Roberta Metsola was re-elected as President in Tuesday’s vote.
